Would You Like to Know More and Consider Joining Us?

If you have just a few hours a month to spare and feel you would like doing charitable work in the community and helping the less fortunate, and if you would like to join a group enjoying companionship in doing so then why not contact us to learn more.

We are looking for new members, - fresh blood, new ideas, - to keep up the charitable work we do in the area.  Apart from manning about 12 fund raising events a year we have business meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Crossroads Lodge Hotel, Scorrier.  So if you would like  to know more click on the contact button below and email our Membership Chairman Lion Ken Powell.

Who Are We and What Do We Do?

We are a group of ordinary people in a Club which is a member of the International Organisation of Lions Clubs with over 900 Clubs in the UK and 45,000 Clubs in the world, with over 1.4million members, dedicated to supporting worthy causes and helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves (for instance, our Organisation raised over £3M towards rebuilding the area devastated by the tsunami in Southern Asia).

The Camborne – Redruth Club was formed in 1976 since which we have raised and donated over £195,000 towards causes such as providing equipment for people with special needs, giving hampers to genuinely needy families at Christmas, donating to our local Curnow School, CLIC, Childrens Hospice South West, Guide Dogs for the Blind, the major county appeals such as “Joey” , “Sunrise”, “Mermaid” and “Merlin”,  etc, etc

Why Do We Do It and Do We Get Paid?

We do it because we are a group of people who want to serve our community and enjoy doing it without financial reward. We are all non-paid volunteers and our organisation’s rules are strict.  All profits from fund raising events have to be put to charitable causes.

What we do get is satisfaction from helping others (the look on the face of a terminally ill child whom we have helped to fulfil a longing wish is worth more than any payment), and we have fellowship and fun, - with our partners and friends often helping and joining in social events.  Also, being members of an international organisation means that wherever we go in the world we can meet up with, and enjoy the friendship of like-minded people from other Clubs.
