Rowlands Fair Day

After initially being postponed due to bad weather earlier in the year, the annual Rowland’s Fair Fun Day for the disabled took place on the Sunday 25th September in Summercourt.

This annual event is organised by the West Cornwall Lions Clubs to provide disabled children and adults the opportunity to enjoy a couple of hours of fairground fun which they may otherwise find difficult.

Rowland’s fair kindly provide all the rides free of charge and the various Lions Clubs provide free refreshments in the form of pasties, crisps tea, coffee and juice for the children. Lions members were also on hand to help the less abled on and off the rides.

The delight and enjoyment on people’s faces was obvious as this proved to be a highly enjoyable and rewarding day for all concerned.

Dave Rowland was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation along with a bottle of Whiskey and bouquet of flowers as thanks for his generosity. These were presented to him by Ken Powell and Ken Polkinghorne of the Camborne and Redruth Lions Club and John Cardew the Zone Chairman and also of Truro Lions Club.
